Adipic acid

Adipic acid, or hexane dioic acid, is a linear dicarboxylic acid derived from a mixture of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone
The world annual production of this material is 2.5 million tons. Adipic acid is a white, solid powder. Adipic acid is used to make nylon. Adipic acid is commonly used as an additive in the food industry

Nylon as a phthalic polyamide is one of the main commercial applications of adipic acid. Nylon 66 or 6 are among the most important commercial nylons that are used in industries such as carpet, clothing, rubber and auto parts. Electronics, films, wire covers and single-strand fibers are used

In the military, aviation and gas turbine industries, compressors, jet engines and automobiles, monohydric alcohols, adipic acid esters and adipate polyesters are used as lubricants. The reason for using this material is its stability and high resistance to corrosion.
Cartons and papers that are generally in contact with liquids and moisture should have an anti-moisture property. Papers and cartons used in the dairy industry and paper towels are made of moisture-resistant cationic resins, acid. Adipic plays an important role in the production of such resins

Various salts of adipic are used as electrolytes in batteries, for example, ammonium adipate is used in liquid batteries and tetramethyl phosphonium adipate is used in batteries that are resistant to heat

In electrical joints, it is necessary that the material remaining in the joints be reduced to a minimum, and also that the joints be cleaned easily and without the need for oxidation, for this purpose solder oil is required. Adipic is used in the formulation of solder oil, this acid reduces corrosion and facilitates the cleaning of joint surfaces
Another application of adipic acid is in the protection of door glass, car glass, etc. When a dilute solution of adipic is used on these surfaces, it prevents scratches and dirt on the surfaces
The most important action in the skin tanning process is the stabilization of collagen fibers against breakdown, which is done by adipic acid

This acid is not a direct therapeutic agent but is used in many medicines. It is included in pharmaceutical pills to control the release of acidic compounds. It is also used as a flavoring in some pills
For example, it is added to antifungal pills to have a sweet taste when consumed
Adipic is used as an additive, flavoring and seasoning in the food industry
Like many carboxylic acids, it is a mild putty and is slightly toxic
